We are a "tube within a tube" (Coelomates)

An ounce of prevention...

My father passed away December 31st, 2010, after a two and a half year battle with colon cancer.  He never had a colonoscopy until it was too late, at age 75, six months after his brother was diagnosed with colon cancer.  He was a well educated man, a Microbiologist, and had medical insurance, but never thought it would happen to him.  He was dead wrong about it!  In December 2009, I had a colonoscopy done to establish a baseline at age 42. I was clean as a whistle, with a healthy shiny color where the "sun don't shine". I encourage everyone over age 50 or if this runs in your family to get one done. Now folks, you will see what I really look like on the inside, when I am not "full of it", as I have often been told.  I was going to swallow a glass eyeball just to get the doctor thinking someone is staring back at him, but my better half prevailed in persuading me not to do that.  I am sure the doctor would have wondered about my twisted sense of humor! Enjoy the photos and the trip through the lower intestine. If you see someone you know around the corner, let me know about it!
